Women
of Distinction Monday, November 12, Woman’s Hospital hosted the Women of Distinction Seminar with guest speaker Lynn Shapiro Snyder. The event, underwritten by Capital One, was the continuation of the hospital’s annual series. Each year, Woman’s Hospital invites a female speaker of prominence in the business world to share the story of her journey both personally and professionally, providing inspiration and an opportunity for Baton Rouge's influential women to network with their peers.
Lynn Shapiro Snyder is the founder and president of the Women Business Leaders of the U.S. Health Care Industry Foundation (“WBL Foundation”) based in Washington, D.C. The Foundation was formed in 2001 in order to meet the unmet needs of senior executive women in the health care industry. Its goal is to help these women improve their businesses and continue to grow professionally, through networking opportunities and by expanding the number of senior executive women who serve as a member of a board of directors. To learn more about WBL, visit www.womenleadinghealthcare.org.
Benefits Fair Recap
As a reminder, enrollment for the majority of your benefits for 2008 will be handled electronically through the new Human Resources Employee Self Service (ESS) module. If you haven’t already logged onto ESS, get in there and check it out. You have the ability to look at your personal information, benefits, deductions, tax withholdings, copies of your paycheck history, and much, much more! To log on, click the ESS icon on your desktop, enter your Employee ID number as the user name, and the last four digits of your SSN as the password. You’ll be prompted to change your password after you sign in for the first time. From the ESS home page, in the navigation section on the left side of the screen, select Myself, then Benefits Enrollment. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the enrollment process. If you have problems signing on to ESS, call or email Brian Watkins at x 8142 or brian.watkins@womans.org. Even if you’re not changing your benefits elections, you must go into ESS to verify your current coverage, your covered dependents, and enter your beneficiary information for your life insurance policies. You’ve probably completed beneficiary information for these policies before. However, those records were on paper. Completing your beneficiary designation on ESS allows us (and you) access to current information easily and quickly. Effective January 1, 2008, we will no longer provide payroll deduction for any of the AFLAC policies. You do have the opportunity to continue participating in the AFLAC plan(s) that you are currently enrolled in, if you choose to do so. AFLAC will send you a letter around the beginning of the year to explain your options for payment. If you want to replace or supplement your AFLAC policies with the new products offered through Boston Mutual or Transamerica, you still have time to enroll. Call Benefit Associates, Inc. at 866-282-3556, Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, CST to enroll. Please contact Angel x8731, Tara x8140, Therese x8143 in Human Resources with benefits questions or assistance with ESS enrollment.
