Health-n-Motion
A Woman's
Hospital Employee Wellness Program
The first
session of a new one year pilot weight management program,
“Health-n-Motion” will begin on
August 1st. The program is
designed to provide employees with the support and tools they need to
become healthy and fit. Overweight people are more likely to develop
certain health problems such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease/stroke,
cancer, sleep apnea, osteoarthritis and gallbladder disease. Research
shows that you can improve your health by losing as little as 10 - 20
pounds. As a healthcare organization, we want to support your efforts
to maintain a healthy lifestyle. And as an employer located in the land
of festivals and good food, we know how difficult that can be!
The success of Health-n-Motion
participants will be tracked and measured. Participants at levels 2 and
3 must commit to the program and meet participation requirements
(including a 20-week commitment to the Weight Watchers program).
Certain criteria must be met, or the employee will be required to repay
a pro-rated portion of the program expense. This is also the first step
in the creation of a comprehensive wellness program - a benefit you've
asked for in surveys and focus groups, and something we're very excited
about.
The program has
three levels - each designed to meet an array of health and fitness
needs:
Level I – All
employees are eligible to participate.
Lab tests and personal health risk assessment provided free of charge.
Woman's Fitness Club initiation fee waived, and 20% employee discount
provided.
Discounted fees at Spectrum and Anytime Fitness clubs.
Low-cost healthy options provided in the cafeteria.
Support groups, educational resources, lunch and learn programs offered
onsite free of charge.
Health success monitoring annually.
Level 2 - All
full-time and part-time employees with a Body Mass Index of 25.0 or
greater may participate.
All features provided to Level 1.
Weight Watchers program fully paid by the Hospital, and conducted
weekly on-site. Or, you can attend off-site meetings at a Weight
Watchers location of your choice.
Incentives for program participation and cash incentive for weight loss
success.
Support groups, educational resources, lunch and learn programs offered
onsite free of charge.
Health success monitoring every 6 months.
Level 3 - All
full-time and part-time employees interested in bariatric surgery. To
qualify, you must have been employed for at least a year, have a Body
Mass Index of 40 or greater, or otherwise qualify for bariatric surgery.
Lab tests and personal health risk
assessment provided free of charge.
Woman's Fitness Club initiation fee waived, and 20% employee discount
provided.
Discounted fees at Spectrum and Anytime Fitness clubs.
Low-cost healthy options provided in cafeteria.
Bariatric surgery reimbursement of $3,500 following surgery.
Support groups, educational resources, lunch and learn programs offered
onsite free of charge.
Health success monitoring every 6 months.
The deadline for employees to express
their interest is July 1st. Depending on interest, we may
need to limit the number of participants or increase the frequency of
programs.
Thanks to
everyone who has been so patient during the creation of this program.
What began as a simple bariatric surgery reimbursement evolved into a
comprehensive program that can positively impact many of our employees
and their families. We're looking forward to starting to move down the
road toward wellness!
