Baby Grand

Saturday,
May 19, Woman's Hospital hosted Baby Grand. More than 450 expectant moms
descended on Woman's Hospital's campus for tours and educational classes
related to childbirth and pregnancy.
The
semi-annual event offers a collection of activities for expectant
families, including meeting with vendors, tours of Woman’s Hospital,
meeting with pediatricians and attending a variety of workshops. Each
year, more than 1,200 expectant families attend the Fall and Spring events.

Tuesday, June 5
CAMP ABC.
CAMP ABC is an 8-session program which meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The class is designed for children 5-6 years of age to address motor
coordination, letter formation and reading readiness. Session 1
starts June 5 from 9:00 am – Noon and session 2 starts July 10 from 9:30

TEAM Readers.
TEAM Readers is an 8-session program for elementary-aged children who
struggle with reading and/or read below grade level. The class
meets once a week starting on June 6. For more information, call therapy

Wednesday, June 13
Body Basics for Boys.
Learning how their bodies grow, what changes to expect during puberty,
and how to take care of themselves are valuable lessons for young teens.
Body Basics offers those lessons for boys ages 10 - 13. Class includes
informal, open discussions, a film presentation, and take-home materials
as well as a brief and simple introduction to the opposite sex. It is
recommended that a parent or trusted adult accompany each young teen. By
taking the class together, you and your young teen can continue these
important discussions at home. Woman's Hospital Conference Rooms 2 and
3, $15 per child,

Ready Set Jump
into Preschool.
Ready Set Jump into Preschool is an 8-session program designed to
prepare children 4-5 years of age for preschool. Classes start Tuesday,
July 10 and run through August 2 from 8:00 - 9:30 am. For more

Woman’s Expo. Baton Rouge River
Center - New Exhibition Hall; A day of events designed exclusively for
women. Take a day for yourself and browse the many exhibitor booths
ranging from health and fitness information to clothes and merchandise.
Moving On Up
Sharon Graves has
accepted the position of human resources manager. Sharon will be
responsible for the day to day supervision and oversight of the
employment, compensation and employee relations functions.
Sharon has previously worked at
the hospital as both an HR representative and an HR project coordinator.
Sharon has a bachelor's in marketing from Louisiana State University and
is currently employed as HR manager for TJ Moran Enterprises. Sharon has
several years of HR experience in healthcare environments including Our
Lady of the Lake, BR Clinic, and Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center.
Monique Fisher
transferred from the hospital's accounting department on April 30th to
become the revenue management manager in patient accounting.

Welcome to our newest NICU
cuddlers!
Suzette Fontenot, BSN, RN
and Stacey Duplessis, RN have both accepted positions as NICU nurse
managers.
Suzette Fontenot, BSN, RN,
graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University in 1997. She began
working in the NICU at Woman’s Hospital in 1999. Suzette has served as
both primary and relief preceptor; is a member of the NICU Infection
Control Council; has participated in research within NICU; and has been
a member of The Academy for Neonatal Nursing for 5 years.
Stacey Duplessis, RN,
graduated from Baton Rouge General School of Nursing in 1997. She began
working in the NICU at Woman’s Hospital in January 1998. Stacey has
served as charge nurse and preceptor; is a member of the NICU
Bereavement Council and Staff Advocate Committee; and has most recently
represented NICU in the hospital’s Professional Development Council.
Stacey is also a member of The Academy of Neonatal Nursing.

Honored
The U.S. Department of
Justice honored recipients of this year’s victims’ rights awards as part
of the 27th observance of National Crime Victims’ Rights
Week, April 22-28. National Crime Victims’ Rights Week Awards honor
those whose outstanding work on behalf of crime victims has earned them
the esteem of their colleagues in the victim service and criminal
justice fields. The awards and their recipients, nominated by their
colleagues and approved by the Attorney General, included Dr. Randall
Brown.
Allied Professional Award
Recognizes an individual or organization outside the victim
assistance field for services or contributions to the victims’ field.
